“Sophia again proves [herself] as a daring director … The comedy does not belittle the drama, but makes it more bearable [and] the romance is not sugar-coated, but painfully real.”

Tanya Dimova, KINO Magazine

Anastasia and her husband Chavdar want to help their daughter Betty, who is struggling after suffering multiple miscarriages. When Chavdar pays for an IVF treatment, 55-year-old Anastasia decides that she will carry the embryo to term herself, unleashing a chaotic clash of family dynamics, ethics, and even the law. Whose child is this, anyway? The latest from Zornitsa Sophia, the talented director of Mother (shown at EUFF 2023), this unique comedy-family drama is based on an “inconceivable” but true story of a Bulgarian family in 2017.
