ALL AGES MATINÉE! NEW ANIMATED FILM FROM FRANCE! ► A young boy joins forces with his favourite characters from classic children’s literature — including Alice in Wonderland, Little Red Riding Hood, Peter Pan, and others — to save a magic library in this enchanting feature from French animator Dominique Monfery (an Academy Award nominee for his 2003 short Destino). Celebrating the power of stories and the pleasures of reading, the film concerns Nat, who’s seven and hasn’t yet learned how to read. When beloved Aunt Eleanor (voiced by Jeanne Moreau) dies and leaves him her book collection, Nat isn’t exactly thrilled, and so his parents decide to sell off the library. But then Nat makes an amazing discovery: not only are all the books first editions, but the characters within them can magically come to life! And, if the books leave the library, these fantastical new friends will fade away forever. Nat must race against time to save the library from the clutches of a greedy collector. “Eleanor’s Secret will quickly win the hearts and imaginations of avid readers and film lovers alike” (Seattle I.F.F.). “A beautiful hand-drawn animation that will appeal to lovers of Coraline and classic Walt Disney” (Glasgow F.F.). Colour, DVD. 75 mins.
